Fixit time!

Hello interneters!
I don't really know where to begin with these introduction posts, but let's jump in!  I'm a father of three wonderful kids and I live in an aging house.  As these two things combine they tend to create lots of problems for said house.  I don't have a TON of money to throw at contractors and repair persons, so I took it upon myself to learn how to fix things and save some money.  And I don't think that everyone should have to start from square one, so I'd like to share my experiences with you!

First off a little bit about me I guess.  I grew up in a farming community where there were really old time values (also I was raised mostly by my grandparents who grew up in Great Depression era).  Lots of "fix it before you throw it away" mentality and "why buy it when you can make it" going on everywhere.  Also I helped a lot on my uncle's dairy farm where you had to "field fix" lots of equipment to make it through the day.  Upon reaching high school I got a job working at the fairgrounds in the maintenance department where I learned more about tools and their uses and lots of different ways to fix things.

Fast forwards a decade and a few years...now I'm a father and I like teaching my kids the value of their possessions and how to take care of them and how to fix things so they can have nice things that last.  But it turns out that I don't know how to fix EVERYTHING so there's this wonderful little site called YouTube.  Ever heard of it?  You can learn lots of things there, and when you are a visual learner like me it does wonders.  It's like having an apprenticeship at your fingertips with lots of well informed people from all over the world.  I hope to be posting some videos up soon of how I fix things and other tips and tricks I've come across.

I don't want to ramble on in my introductory post, so I'll leave this for now.  I hope I remember to come back to it often and please comment and check back often to encourage me to post more.  Also if there's a project you are having problems with, please let me know and if I know a thing or two about it, I'll share what I know!
